“At our Summer meeting on 24th January 2015, we honoured two very important people Mr Denis Desmond and Mrs Kathleen Burke both of whom had an inspiring effect on Wexford Retired Teachers Association.

21 years previous Denis was asked by Joe O’Toole and Michael Moroney to take charge of RTAI. At this time RTAI had about 2,000 members countrywide, but no clear structure. Now it has 10,000 members plus.

Kathleen rang Denis with a query and ended up secretary of Wexford RTA . At that time Wexford had four branches -some had not met for a long time. From that beginning an active branch has grown. RTA Wexford now has 300 plus members

We owe a great deal to Denis and Kathleen for their willingness and hard work.”
